History of Mansfield Industrial

Through both strategic acquisition and internal growth, Mansfield Industrial has transformed itself from a small independent coatings contractor into an industry leading provider of industrial coatings, insulation, fireproofing, industrial cleaning, scaffolding, metal building erection and roofing services. Mansfield Industrial is affiliated with parent company K2 Industrial Services. Some of the key industries served include Power Generation, Refining, Chemical, Pulp and Paper, Manufacturing, Product Movement, Heavy Commercial, Municipal and Federal Government.

Dale Mansfield founded Mansfield Industrial Coatings in 1974. He had grown up in the coatings industry and finally decided the time was right to branch out on his own. Dale started out with only a few ladders, scaffold boards and some painting equipment. He worked with a small nucleus of industrial painters doing most of the supervising himself. Over time, the Mansfield reputation for quality and service grew and Dale enhanced the company offering to include industrial insulation, abatement and tank linings. The business soon became one of the most respected and largest industrial speciality contractors in the Gulf Coast. His sons followed in their father’s footsteps and began working with Dale at a very early age.

In 1994, Ted and Dean Mansfield purchased the company from their father and operations continued under their leadership. In 1998 Mansfield Industrial Coatings, Inc. was merged into Canisco Resources, a publicly traded company based out of Wilmington, Delaware. Ted and Dean Mansfield stayed with the company as President and Executive Vice President, respectively. Canisco Resources became one of the largest industrial painting and coatings contractors in the country. At that time, the subsidiaries of Canisco were Cannon-Sline, Mansfield Industrial, and Isolve. Ted Mansfield was elected to the Board of Directors in September of 1999 and in November of that same year, became CEO of Canisco Resources. In August of 2000 Canisco Resources, now consisting of Mansfield Industrial Coatings and Cannon Sline accepted an offer for acquisition from Kenny Industrial Services. The former Canisco companies became part of the Kenny Team, which consisted of J.L. Manta, Genesee and Golf Construction. This new group of specialty contractors was without a doubt the largest and most experienced network of industrial coatings services in the nation.

In 2003, Kenny Industrial reincorporated under the new name K2 Industrial. The K2 family of companies now includes Mansfield Industrial, KM Plant Services, Cannon Sline, KM Industrial, Manta Industrial and KA Industrial Services - serving the industrial and heavy commercial sectors with an international footprint in the Americas.
